Royal Naval Division Centennial Commemoration
Sunday 14th April 2019 at Islandbridge

This event is to commemorate all those from the Island of Ireland who served in the Royal Naval Division from 1914 until it passed into history in April 1919, having served in Belgium, Gallipoli and France.

The commemoration will take place at midday on Sunday 14th April 2019 at the National War Memorial Gardens, Islandbridge, Dublin. The Royal Naval Association (12 Area, Ireland), the Royal Marines Association (Northern Ireland Branch), The Irish Naval Association, The Royal Irish Regimental Association and the Royal Dublin Fusiliers Association will parade with their standards and wreaths will be laid on behalf of each Association. The Royal British Legion will be represented by their District Officers. Battalions of the Royal Irish Regiment and the Royal Dublin Fusiliers served with the Royal Naval Division. Timings on the day.

  • 11.00 - The Book Rooms at the National Gardens of Remembrance will be open and a tour will be available. The Books are a record of all those from the island of Ireland who died whilst serving during WW1.
  • 11.30 _ “Up spirits” – A tot of rum will be issued in memory of the Royal Naval Division.
  • 11.50 _ Form up in Detachments.
  • 11.55_ Detachments &Standards will march on.
  • 12.00 _ Commemoration Ceremony to commence.
  • 12.30 _ Dismiss.
  • 13.00 –Debrief and Networking Opportunity.The Garda Boat Club, 8 Chapelizod Rd, Phoenix Park, Islandbridge, Co. Dublin (just across the River Liffey, a short distance from the Memorial Garden with ample parking)
