The Irish Naval Association had their annual commemoration and wreath laying ceremony yesterday Sunday the 26/01/2020 in Drogheda in Honour of Leading Seaman (L/S) Michael Quinn DSM who lost his life while going to the assistance of a Spanish fishing vessel in Bantry Bay exactly thirty years ago this month. Michael came from Drogheda and a number of years ago a stone Plaque was unveiled by the President of Ireland Michael D Higgins in Michael's Honour and we have been attending every year since. The Dublin Branch of the (INA) is named after Michael. We had a very large turnout possibly the biggest since the unveiling made up of members of the INA ,ONE Slane / Navan / Drogheda and the Erskine Childers Branch of the ONE.

There were two wreaths laid one by me on behalf of the INA and one by Jim Fay on behalf of the ONE.
We had a surprise attendance of a Naval Ensign from the Ecuador Navy who is in Ireland to learn English and he was invited to say a few words which he did very well knowing the story of Michael Quinn
